| The following shops, and personnel attached to the
shops are assigned to the R-5 Division. Shop 36, Fire Control, conducts
inspections and repairs all installed fire control equipment. Shop 72D,
Diving Locker, is concerned with shallow water diving, underwater hull
inspection, cleaning and temporary plugging of sea valve connections,
changing of propellers while water borne, zinc replacement, sound dome
removal and replacement. Although administratively, the shop is under the
R-5 Division Officer., they work directly for the Diving and Assistant
Diving Officer. Shop93, which is the Print Shop, takes care of all
printing of Submarine Squadron TWELVE, and visiting submarines. The
Technical Library and Drafting Shop 04, makes working sketches and
mechanical drawings, makes repairs to drafting instruments. The library
consists of technical books and instruction pamphlets for equipment
installed in submarines. Shop 06, Photographic Laboratory, photocopies
documents, laminates I.D. and Liberty Cards, and furnishes periscope
cameras and film to units tended. Repair Office Personnel are assigned to
assist in the clerical work. The office force is under the administrative
control of the R-5 Division Officer, but works directly under the Repair
and Assistant Repair Officer.
