A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The material herein is assembled for the purpose of bringing Thompson Academy

and its aims and objectives to the attention of those who may not know of its contribution

to the community and our society.

Founded in 1814 and later known as The Farm and Trades School, the Academy has

followed the American concept of equality of opportunity by affording an education in attractive

and wholesome home school surroundings to thousands of worthy boys who, because

of conditions beyond their control, needed such an environment. The Academy has

literally served as a stepping stone for generations of promising boys, leading them from

hazardous surroundings to decent citizenship and often leadership.

With no denominational affiliation and totally independent of governmental support,

the school is entirely unique in offering to the worthy boy the equivalent of grades seven

through high school at tuition rates geared so far as possible to the resources available to him.

Thompson Academy is supported largely by endowments, bequests, and gifts. The

Trustees are deeply grateful to the loyal group of citizens who for generations have helped

to carryon this work. If we are to provide for a still larger group of decent boys who are

knocking at our door, additional financial support is an immediate necessity. It is our

cherished hope that more and more public spirited men and women will rally behind this

investment in America's youth.
